With the new season just around the corner, now seems the perfect time to give you an update on all things Caddington Cricket.

Winter Nets

Since early February we have been netting on Sunday afternoons at Denbigh High School. This will continue right up to the start of the season, and for those who cannot make Sundays we have just added four net sessions at Dunstable CC on Wednesday evenings from 8pm to 9pm. We hope to see as many of you there as possible.

Preseason Friendlies

We have several friendlies lined up before the start of the league season, kicking off with the inter-club game at Shefford on the 16th of April. There are also away friendlies to Roadrunners (24th April), Great Brickhill (1st May) and a potential visit to Osterley CC, a club that plays in the Middlesex leagues. With more pre-season games than ever before, we should be able to hit the ground running when the real action begins on the 6th of May.

Viegli T20 Cup Draw

For our first foray into the T20 cup, we have been drawn away to Dunstable Town CC in the first round.  The tie will be played on or before Friday the 3rd of June, and should be a good opportunity to give a decent showing against a quality local side.  The winners will play Harlington CC, who received a bye into the next round.

Bowling Night

We have arranged a bowling night at Go Bowling in Dunstable on the 22nd of April.  It will be a good opportunity to get together socially before the season starts and no doubt there will be some sort of competition arranged.  It’s just £10 for unlimited bowling all night, so if you’re interested then text the club phone to confirm your attendance.

Preseason Team Meeting

There will be a preseason team meeting at the club on Saturday 23rd of April at 11am.  This is an important meeting and everyone is expected to attend unless you have work commitments or an important prior engagement.  We will be taking orders for clothing from serious cricket on the day (the club will pay the delivery charges) so if you wish to purchase anything please bring your details with you.  We will also be taking the opportunity to prepare the equipment for the new season after the meeting.  If you cannot attend, please text the club phone to confirm this.

Cricket Roller Application

The committee, with assistance from Team Beds Luton are currently in the process of submitting a grant application to purchase a new roller for the club.  We aare confident that the bid will be successful and hopefully we should have it with us close to the start of the season.  Purchasing a roller has been a high priority for the committee this year, and we hope that you will appreciate the effort that Dale is putting in to secure this vital piece of equipment.  we will keep you updated with the progress of the bid as it continues.

Membership and All Inclusive Fees

Don’t forget that you will need to pay your cricket club membership fee (£20) before you will be able to play any cricket this season.  If you wish to go all inclusive this year, then you will need to have paid  (£120) before the first league match of the season on the 6th of May.

That’s all for now.  Thanks for reading, and we look forward to seeing you either at some of the preseason events or once the league has begun in earnest.

The Committee.
